Dr. Chen possesses over 25 years of academic and industrial experiences in biomedical data analytics, new technology venture incubation and investment, corporate turnaround management, and strategic planning for institutional sustainability in US, Japan, and Taiwan.
Dr. Chen is currently the visiting professor at Kyoto University Institute for Advanced Study (KUIAS), Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS), Japan, as well as the visiting professor at the BioMedical Translation Research Center of Academia Sinica, Taiwan; In addition, Dr. Chen is also holding two teaching positions (joint appointment) at the Department and Graduate Institute of Business Administration, College of Management, and the College of Medicine of National Taiwan University (NTU).
In the academic field, Dr. Chen serves as the Deputy Director of the iCeMS Taiwan Office at Kyoto University; he also serves as Deputy Director of the Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cellular Therapy (CRC), and the Adjunct Research Fellow in the System-on-Chip (SoC) Research Center at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU). In addition, in NTU, Dr. Chen served as the researcher at the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Robotics, as well as at the Center of Technology Policy and Industry Development. He also serves as the President of NII Capital (an University Venture Capital of National Taiwan Normal University), which focus on business in the form of venture capital investments and assists the startups companies which derived from University to commercialize their technology.
